How long are consultations?

Consultations range from 30-40 minutes. This allows our therapists to gain an adequate understanding of you, your injury and your goals. We will also spend the time providing you with a comprehensive assessment and explain the diagnosis and treatment plan to you.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. Physiotherapists in Australia are ‘Primary healthcare practitioners’ so a doctors referral isn’t needed for an appointment. Many of our clients hear about us from friends, family and work colleagues and are able to book an appointment without a doctors referral. Doctors referrals are only necessary if you are claiming through workers compensation, comprehensive third party or Medicare.

What to bring to your first appointment

Ensure you’re wearing loose, appropriate clothing to the body part being treated. Ie. A singlet/sports bra for neck and shoulder injuries and shorts for hip, knee or ankle injuries. Also remember to bring any relevant scans or surgical reports for the injured area. Workers compensation details are also needed if you have a work-related injury.

Does physiotherapy hurt?

Some techniques may be more comfortable than others, however our therapists are professional and ALWAYS respectful of our client’s pain thresholds.

Do you accept private health fund?

Absolutely. Instant rebates are provided via our HICAPS machines.

What conditions can physiotherapy help with?

Our physiotherapists are skilled in treating a range of injuries including sports, muscle and joint pain, fractures, overuse, postural, work related, motor vehicle accident related as well as ligament and tendon related injuries. For more information see our services.

How soon can I get an appointment?

At Gold Standard Physiotherapy we understand how important it is to treat even the smallest of niggles right away in order to achieve the best outcomes and relieve your pain. Given this, we are generally able to fit you in on the same day or within 24 hours.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

From your first appoint you can expect to know what your injury is, why its happened, what exactly it’s going to take and how long it’ll take to fix it! Our physios will provide you with a comprehensive and thorough assessment while also providing you with treatment to kickstart your recovery.

Do we treat Workers Compensation, Medicare, Comprehensive Third Party or Department of Veterans Affairs patients?

Of course. Our therapists have a large amount of experience with these types of patients. Just remember to bring your referral and claim details with you!

Where’s the best place to park?

Our South Windsor clinic is conveniently located next to South Windsor shops where abundant street parking is available. Patients attending our Blacktown clinic routinely park in Westpoint Shopping centre or at Kmart Blacktown which are a short 2-5minute walk away, if street parking is unavailable.
